Blank Electronic Highway Signs

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is repairing and replacing overhead electronic highway signs that are blank or are not displaying information. 

DOT does not accept reports of blank electronic highway signs.

Other Electronic Highway Sign Conditions

You can report other overhead electronic highway sign conditions, including incorrect messages or damaged signs, to the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is removing highway signs with lights and replacing them with new signs made of a special reflective material that is only visible with headlights. This helps reduce energy costs and protects the environment. 

Until the project is complete, you can report highways signs with broken lights by writing to the DOT Commissioner.
