Automated Enforcement cameras are placed at various intersections throughout the city to help improve traffic safety and to deter drivers from running red lights. If your vehicle is photographed running a red light, the registered owner of the vehicle will receive a Notice of Liability (NOL) by mail, typically within 30 days of the violation.

The fine for a red light camera violation is $50.

Key information to keep in mind:

The vehicle registered owner is responsible for the violation, even if someone else was driving the vehicle
No points will be added to your driving license
All information related to paying, appealing, or requesting a hearing by mail are on the back of the NOL

You can report a red light camera that is damaged or not working properly. The New York Department of Transportation (��TV DOT) will inspect and resolve the conditions within 30 days of receiving the request.
