The ID做厙TV program offers a photo identification card for all residents of New York City age 10 and older.  Applicants ages 10-13 must apply in person with a Caretaker, who will sign the application.

This municipal ID card connects New York City residents to services, programs, and benefits, regardless of immigration status, homeless status, or gender identity.

The ID做厙TV card is currently free for all New York City residents.

Cards issued to those ages 10 to 15 are valid for two years, and cards issued to those ages 16 and older are valid for five years.

If your application is approved, you should receive your ID做厙TV card in the mail around 14 business days after applying at an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center.

New York City residents who want to apply for an ID做厙TV card must fill out a new application. You can get an ID做厙TV application form at any ID做厙TV Enrollment Center. The application is available in over 35 languages.

You must make an appointment to visit an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center except for sites where walk-ins are welcome on certain days. Visit the ID做厙TV website for walk-in site information. You must bring four points of documentation (3 points identity, 1 point residency) to your appointment to qualify for an ID做厙TV card. ID做厙TV Enrollment Center staff will review your documentation and complete the enrollment process. Your original application and documentation will be returned to you during your visit. Your photograph will be taken.

If your application is approved, you should receive your ID做厙TV card in the mail approximately 14 business days after you visit an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center.

You can submit a renewal application online or in person at an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center. Appointments are released each week on Friday, for the following Monday through Friday. You can also walk in at select ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers on certain days. You are encouraged to submit your renewal online.

In general, you may renew your card up to 60 days before it expires, and up to 6 months after it expires. If your card expired more than 6 months ago, you will need to apply for a new ID做厙TV card at an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center.

If you choose to submit a renewal application online, you can update information on your card (such as address, email, phone number or emergency contact) through the Quick Renew Process. Some changes may require you to upload and submit a scanned copy of your documentation to make the change. Other changes (such as name or date of birth) may require you to complete your renewal in person at an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center.

After you submit your renewal, you should receive your ID做厙TV card in the mail in approximately 14 business days.

Online

 

You can renew your ID做厙TV online using your ID做厙TV number, which can be found on the front of your card.  If you do not have your ID做厙TV number, you can renew online but will need to sign up for an account with ID做厙TV before renewing your card online.

In Person

You must make an appointment to visit an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center except for sites where walk-ins are welcome on certain days. Visit the ID做厙TV website for walk-in site information.

There are ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers in all five boroughs, including some temporary Pop Up locations.

Mobile Enrollment Center (ID做厙TV on the Go)

The ID做厙TV Mobile Command Center is an enrollment center on wheels that visits locations throughout the city. It operates like any other ID做厙TV Pop Up ID做厙TV Enrollment Center. Appointments may be required. 

When the bus is scheduled to visit a location, it will be listed in ID做厙TV's appointment tool. These scheduled visits will also be displayed on the ID做厙TV website's “Location” page, listed under the Pop Up ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers section. A long-range schedule of the bus's appearances is not available. 

The vehicle complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and is accessible. 

Temporary Pop Up Enrollment Centers

In addition to the permanent ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers in each borough, Pop Up Enrollment Centers open temporarily throughout the City.

If the location where you started your application process has closed, you should make an appointment at another Enrollment Center. 

If you applied at a temporary location and were instructed to pick up your ID做厙TV card because it will not include an address, the ID做厙TV customer service representative should have told you from which permanent location to pick it up. If you have questions, 311 can forward your information to ID做厙TV and an ID做厙TV customer service representative will contact you. You should provide your ID做厙TV Number from the receipt given to you at the Enrollment Center.

Walk-In Centers

Some ID做厙TV centers allow walk-ins on select days. An appointment is not needed at walk-in sites.

Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis at these locations on these days:

  • ID做厙TV East New York - Tuesdays
  • ID做厙TV Bronx Monterey Center - Wednesdays
  • ID做厙TV Union Square - Thursdays
  • Queens Public Library at Central - Fridays

You must make an appointment to visit an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center except for sites where walk-ins are welcome on certain days. Visit the ID做厙TV website for walk-in site information.

You can make an appointment for you or for someone else on the ID做厙TV online portal or through 311. Appointments are released each week on Friday, for the following Monday through Friday.

Do not book more than one appointment per person.  If you cannot attend your scheduled appointment, please cancel and reschedule the appointment for a later date and time. Check daily for appointment availability.  

You will get a confirmation number when you make your appointment. You will not need your confirmation number when you go to your appointment.

If you provide an email address when you make your appointment, you should receive an email with your appointment date, time, and location.  It should also include your confirmation number.

If you are using a document that is in a language other than English or Spanish, ID做厙TV customer service representatives must arrange for a translator to be present at your appointment. 

When making your appointment, include your language in the “Special Instructions” field of the appointment request form. 

All translation services will be provided free of charge.

Services for Non-English Speakers

Free interpretation services in all foreign languages are available at all times at ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers.

Services for People who are Blind or Low Vision

ID做厙TV offers applications in Braille and in large print (16 point font). They are available upon request at ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers. The website is also accessible for those using screen readers.

Services for People who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation is available through a video relay service at ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers.

Services for People with a Physical Disability

All ID做厙TV Enrollment Centers comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are accessible.

ID做厙TV has a full disability access plan, which is available online at .

The ID做厙TV homebound program is temporarily suspended. However, 311 can still send your information to the ID做厙TV Homebound team and an ID做厙TV customer service representative will follow up with you regarding next steps. 

If you are able to get to an ID做厙TV Enrollment Center, all sites comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are accessible. ID做厙TV customer service representatives will provide reasonable accommodations upon request.

Examples of the types of reasonable accommodations that can be provided are:

  • Sign Language interpretation
  • Help for someone who is blind
  • Scheduling at convenient times
  • Help reading and completing forms

If your ID做厙TV application is denied, you will receive a letter that will explain the reason your application was denied.

If you would like a secondary review of your denied application, you must call 311within 30 days of the date on the denial letter. 

311 will forward your request to ID做厙TV customer service representatives who will contact you within 14 business days, to schedule an appointment for a secondary review. Please do not schedule your own appointment. Secondary Review appointments are only made by ID做厙TV customer service representatives.

You may also reapply for an ID做厙TV card at any time.
